More about image reporting data
How far back do image views go?
  • Image view data is available starting from July 1, 2013.
Why is the download information for my photos characterized as "media downloads"? Does the download information reflect journalist activity?
  • Yes.  All photo download information is pulled from PR Newswire's award -winning media site PR Newswire for Journalists. Visibility Reports do not yet display photo download information from PR Newswire's public site, prnewswire.com.
Why do I sometimes see low download numbers for my photos?
  • This is because the download information available in Visibility Reports currently only reflects media download activity.  Members of the public can currently see your photo on prnewswire.com, but we are not yet tracking downloads from this site.
What are the sources for image views in my releases?
  • Views to your images can come from many sources:  from all PR Newswire web sites (both mobile and regional), from third party web sites which form part of PR Newswire's online syndication network, from PR Newswire for Journalists, and from RSS feeds. Additionally image views may come from Newscom and from PR Newswire's Photo Archive.
Why do I see so many more cumulative views to my images than views to the image with my release?
  • There are many reasons why some images have very high numbers of cumulative views.   First off, your PR Newswire photo can be displayed in many more places than just the release page on PR Newswire.com.  It can be featured on PR Newswire's home page in a photo carousel, on various industry or "browse release" pages, or the photo could have been included in any number of relevant RSS feeds subscribed to by either consumers or media.  Additionally, it could be that you have used the same image with other releases, either before or after the release you are currently viewing in your report.  Finally, a number of views to your photo, independent of the news release itself, may have derived from media viewing the image on PR Newswire's photo archive, or consumers viewing the image on any of the sites in PR Newswire's online syndication network.
